KDHW central conducted a two-day “Understanding Mental Health TOT training” from 23 to 24 September 2023 for health workers taking responsibility at the IDP sites in Doo Pla Ya District. The primary objectives of this training were to raise awareness and understanding among KDHW staff on mental health issues and to promote a supportive working environment for KDHW staff. A total of twenty health workers participated in this training.
By the end of the two days of training, the participants gained the following valuable skills and knowledge:
- Enhanced understanding of common mental health disorders and the ability to recognize the signs and symptoms in themselves and others.
- Development of a more empathetic and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals experiencing mental health challenges, ultimately contributing to a stigma-free environment.
- Improved self-care and coping strategies.
- The capability to identify and strengthen protective factors in their lives while minimizing risk factors.
- A better understanding of how to prevent mental health crises and support others in crisis situations.
- Enhanced readiness to support one another, leading to improved overall well-being.
- The capacity to build better communication skills and foster supportive relationships.
