The Karen Department of Health and Welfare (KDHW) is an Ethnic Health Organization (EHO) serving the health and welfare needs of the ethnic population, majority Karen, in Myanmar (Burma).
All persons in Burma receive the health and welfare services that they need without suffering financial hardship.
KDHW shall provide Quality, Affordable, and Equitable health and welfare services to individuals, families and communities in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
All populations in the KNU administrative area can access both primary and secondary health care services of KDHW while increasing financial protection.
Ensure all populations in the KNU administrative area have equal rights to possess guaranteed life according to social protection standards.
KDHW has been implementing primary health care at the village tract level through around 77 Village Tract Health Centers (VTHCs) and skills health workers in different categories such as Medics, Community Health Workers, Maternal and Child Health Workers (MCHWs) and Emergency Obstetric Care Workers (EmOCs) through ethnic health care training programs. Moreover, KDHW has recently expanded secondary care level through four secondary care centers.
