Capacity Building

Capacity building is a central theme for the Karen people who are self-sufficient and focused on developing and enriching the skills needed to provide for their communities. To support the goal of capacity building, the KDHW routinely offers healthcare training and workshops, quality management, and ongoing skills improvement.

Refresher training courses at intermediate and advanced levels, with voluntary participation of physicians and other healthcare professionals from several countries, are given annually or biannually.

Administrative staff are routinely involved in training and skills development activities in collaboration with partner organizations, various non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and community-based organizations (CBO’s), and visiting professionals who volunteer to teach specific administrative and technical skills.
